The Basics

Life and Health Producers

24 CE hours, including 3 hours of ethics, are required every 2 year license term (see license term below).

Property and Casualty Producers

24 CE hours, including 3 hours of ethics, are required every 2 year license term (see license term below).

Flood Insurance

All Wyoming property and casualty producers who sell federal flood insurance must complete a one-time 3-hour course approved for the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

Adjusters

24 CE hours, including 3 hours of ethics, are required every 2 year license term (see license term below).

Nonresident CE Requirements

Nonresident adjusters must meet resident state requirements. If none, adjuster must complete 24 hours biennially, including 3 hours of ethics.

License Term

The license term is the last day of the licensee’s birth month every 2 years.

CE Subject Requirements

Category restrictions:

Of the 24-hour CE requirement, 3 hours must be in ethics.

Course presentation:

Online.

Study requirements:

Students should read course material prior to completing final exam

Final Exam Requirements

Exam proctor requirements:

Exams are to be monitored by a disinterested third party. The monitor can be any impartial person who is not concerned with the result of the examination or the success of the student.

Exam Rules:

The final exam must be passed with a grade of 70 percent or higher to receive credit. Students have unlimited retakes.

CE Carryover Allowance

Excess credit hours may not be carried over to the next licensing period.

Course Repetition Rules

A course may not be taken for credit more than once within a 2-year licensing period.

Certificate of Completion

AOIS provides online, printable certificates of completion in Wyoming. Certificate of completion will be available to print online immediately after a final exam is passed. The licensee keeps a copy of the summary report and the original certificates of completion in his or her files for 2 years.

CE Completion Reporting

Instant Reporting: Insurance CE credits are immediately reported to Sircon upon course completion.

License Renewal Process

Licensees will no longer be required to send in their certificates of completion to the Wyoming Department of Insurance. Renewal invoices will be mailed approximately 60 days prior to the license expiration date. You may renew through Sircon or the National Insurance Producer Registry. Adjusters and consultants may renew electronically through Sircon.

CE Exemptions

  • The following are exempt from CE requirements:

  • Individuals holding a limited producers license

  • Individuals licensed for credit life and credit disability

  • Individuals licensed for funeral service contracts

  • Nonresident producers.
