Before selling, soliciting, or negotiating annuity products in Illinois, producers must complete a one-time annuity training course approved for at least 4 hours.
Initial 8-hour training requirement: Before soliciting or selling LTCI products in Illinois, resident producers must complete an 8-hour LTC training course.
Ongoing 4-hour training requirement: After completing the initial training, resident producers must complete a 4-hour course on the subject of long-term care within 24 months of the completion of the 8-hour initial training course, and every 24 months thereafter
Failure to complete the on-going 4-hour training course within 24 months of completing the initial 8-hour training course will forfeit recognition of the initial 8-hour training course by the Illinois Department of Insurance, and will result in the initial 8-hour training course having to be repeated.
All life agents who also hold a Viatical Settlement Broker license and sell viatical life settlement policies must complete at least 4 hours CE course in viatical settlements every 24 months.
To comply with the minimum training requirements established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), producers who sell flood insurance issued through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) must complete a one-time 3 hour flood training course.

Nonresident producers who are licensed to sell LTC insurance in Illinois and who have satisfied the long-term care partnership training program in their home state, or another state with an LTC partnership requirement, have satisfied Illinois’ LTC requirement.

The license term is every 2 years on the last day of the birth month.
CE must be completed at least 30 days prior to license expiration to avoid penalty.
3 hours of ethics study must be completed in a classroom. Crop producers can fulfill their CE requirement with course approved for property and casualty.
Illinois does not require a proctor during a course exam.
Self-study courses are open book. During the examination, producers may refer to course materials or notes. A score of 70% is required to pass and students have unlimited retakes.
Up to 12 hours of excess CE may be carried over to the subsequent license term.
Courses cannot be repeated more than once in a 2 year license term.
AOIS provides online printable certificates of completion in Illinois. Certificates of completion will be available to print online immediately after a final exam is passed. Producers must keep the original certificate of completion in his or her files for 5 years.
Electronic Renewals will be available up to 90-days prior to a licensee’s expiration date. If the current date exceeds the expiration date, you will be required to pay a penalty fee.

Those holding a temporary license
Those holding any of the following limited licenses: baggage, limited travel health, or trip cancellation sold in connection with transportation by a common carrier; industrial life; industrial health; and insurance issued by a local mutual district, county, or township insurance company
